National Radio Astronomy Observatory - 
"The Very Large Array"

27 satellite dishes (each 82 feet in diameter) form the largest radio telescope in the world.  The visitor center contains exhibits on radio astronomy, and the self-guided tour includes the computer room and control buildings.  An amazing site right in the middle of the desert.
