"Colonial Park Cemetery is the oldest graveyard in Savannah.
Opened in 1750, it was used as Savannah’s primary burial ground
for 103 years. Included among the noteworthy burials here are
Revolutionary War heroes like Button Gwinnett, a signer of the
Declaration of Independence; Generals Lachlan McIntosh and Samuel
Elbert; Archibald Bulloch, 1st President of Georgia, and
Maj. William Leigh Pierce.
