Butler
County Soldiers, Sailors, and Pioneers Monument |
"Standing proudly
at the 1790s site of Fort Hamilton on the Great Miami River,
this 3-story structure was erected in 1906 by grateful citizens to
“perpetuate the memory of the soldiers, sailors and pioneers of
Butler County.” Notable features are colorful windows honoring the
service of women during the Civil War. Most prominent is Billy Yank,
a 17-foot, 3,500-pound Civil War soldier proclaiming victory that
was designed and built by Rudolph Thiem. Military displays are
housed within."
